The Brisbane Metro Depot
The Brisbane Metro Depot, which is the largest electric bus depot in Australia, has been completed and is scheduled to commence operations in October.
Situated on a 10-hectare property in Rochedale, the depot is set to serve as a crucial center for Brisbane’s upcoming bus rapid transit system. With more than 400,000 hours dedicated to its construction, the depot is tailored to accommodate Brisbane’s new fleet of fully electric metro vehicles. The facility features 65 charging stations, among which are five fast chargers.
Over 2,300 solar panels have been installed, producing clean energy that meets the annual electricity needs of 280 households. This project is anticipated to decrease carbon emissions by an amount similar to taking more than 500 vehicles off the roads of Brisbane annually.
